I am creative – as a way of living. Not so much in a traditional way as a musician, dancer, painter… though I love all three of those arts. Creativity is woven into my way of being. I become so inspired when it comes to finding solutions, even for the smallest problems in everyday life. It is how I do healing and mentoring work – with lots of love, soul wisdom and creativity – because a solution for a problem exists not on the level of the problem. It needs a shift in consciousness, a new perspective, a new way of feeling and being in order to solve and release the old, which for me ist best described as a creative process.
Who is also a busy mom, who feels that there is never enough time for self-care? When I read about how important it is to fill my cup first – I wonder how this is possible in reality.
I cannot take an hour for my yoga practise since sometimes I even miss taking a shower. Still, aligning myself in the morning is important for me. I needed to do something for myself that takes minimal time but has a maximum effect.
Give yourself the gift of TRUE self-love
Do you also constantly get the message about how to love yourself? I do and often, honestly, it made me feel more guilty than loved to read about, what I “should” do in order to show myself some love, like:
– the hot bath,
– the kind words
– or the flowers to myself.
Those things are great but recently, I am discovering a much more deeper level of selflove.
I can almost feel how nearly everyone is craving true abundance. If you are like me, you probably spent lots of time and energy searching for abundance, wealth and prosperity outside and inside. Continue Reading
Anaïs Nin: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
My favourite quote ever.
Is it your time already? To blossom and bloom, to share your true authentic self with the world? To do what you are here to do and what your soul is calling you to do? Is it time?
Hello! Time for an introduction. I am Susanne, a mother of two little stars who is based in Sweden and who loves to share with you all the things that help me to stay aligned to my soul purpose.Continue Reading
You know I am all about being in flow and following your intuition. I grew up following my thoughts and not my heart so it was really important to emphasize this way of living. But the last years taught me that there has to be a balance between taking action/making it happen and sensing my way forward, following my flow. Continue Reading
The fairytales and old myths are full of symbols that lead to plant teachers like this wonderful mushroom. Ancient healers used it to fly to other realms. Plants are my teachers no matter if they come into my life as flower essences, essential oils or entheogens. This one is so beautiful and does spark the imagination immediately, right?
I captured those tiny and radiant blossoms of a vervain plant today. Taking pictures of a plant actually is a tool to connect with them on a deeper level. It requires communication and awareness and respect. Plants are whole and therefore have the wonderful ability to remind us of our wholeness. Healing and becoming more whole never feels like becoming a new person to me. It is more like a walk home. Let’s walk together, sister!
I realized some time ago that happiness is not found in being as comfortable as possible. It’s actually a huge lie we get to hear a thousand times. Our whole culture is based on this thought. I wasn’t even aware of my own belief in it. Trying to avoid pain and growth actually makes me depressive. Happiness is going for what truly feeds my soul. It means jumping into the unknown, taking full responsibility for myself. It is not all sunshine but I do get to see a rainbow after the rain from time to time.
Aligned Living. This is what it is all about. I believe that everyone has very special talents and gifts and also a unique way of seeing life. It’s only through a life that is aligned with those talents, gifts and values that we feel meaning and fulfillment.
I came from a place where 80 percent of my life was not aligned at all. Continue Reading
Today I want to share with you why essential oils got this special place in my heart – right next to flower essences and oracle cards of course. I could list a thousand reasons, but to keep it simple I chose the three most important ones.
Here we go:
I see myself as a spiritual and aware person, but tend to get stuck in the mental realms. The essential oils help me to get grounded. Smelling peppermint and wild orange, for example, brings me right back into my body. The ritual of applying essential oils has become very important to me over the last months. The oils build a bridge between the more subtle energy levels and the material world. Through smell we activate the limbic region of the brain which is linked to instincts, memories and emotions – taking us out of mental chatting right into feeling and sensing. My oils are a precious key when it comes to embodiment: Being right here with all my feelings and to be okay with it!
2. Feeling Luxurious
My doTERRA essential oils are like jewels. I rather have one bottle of rose oil, which is made of 12,000 rose blossoms than owning a diamond. Every drop of essential oil is precious and I use them with awareness. This gift from nature enriches my life in so many ways. Yes, they cost more than other oils and yes they are totally worth it. Since I started using the oils I also prioritize better on what I spent money on. Like yesterday, I said to myself that I rather buy a bottle of wild orange than a coffee and a sandwich in a coffee shop. Even with a tight budget I feel like a queen with these oils.
3. Sharing and Caring
Since I use the essential oils and know what big support they are for emotional wellbeing as well as for the health of the family I love sharing them. I share them with my kids when I let them pic a bottle. I share them with my husband who loves to use the ones that are great for cooking. I share them in my community when I bring peppermint brownies to meet ups. I never opened up so easily to people before and I have never been more open to my community. It’s like the plant spirits just want me to connect and they help me being my best self. Also, the act of smelling is so basic. Everyone likes it and loves to share.
If you feel drawn to incorporating essential oils into your life, to invite the plant spirits into your home, and to use oils to support the health of your loved ones, this is the right time. Get started here.
If you have any questions or just want to chat, drop me a line. I am here for you!
Let’s talk about yoga! I have a little story to share today. Like most of you know, I have a baby and a toddler at home, so I don’t get much sleep. And we have a full moon – which makes me all nervous and hyperactive, just like drinking coffee does. When my nervous system get’s too stressed, I get a toothache. This is my internal warning system, telling me to take a break.
After experimenting a lot with yoga, I found one asana which helps me to relax deeply and usually the toothache is gone afterwards: it is the forward bend. Most people find this very uncomfortable. I kind of stay in this position for 20 minutes and feel that it balances me in a way no other yoga posture does. It says that the forward bend activates all seven chakras, that makes sense to me. I only get the reward if I can relax in this position, before that it was more a stretching exercise.
I love to have all kinds of tricks and tools to help me in everyday life.
Do you have a favorite yoga asana?
One major theme for many of us in 2015 is to follow our heart. It sounds like an easy thing to do but honestly, it is nothing we learned in high school or college and therefore something quite new for a lot of people. What we learned is to use our brain to make decisions and to figure things out.
No wonder that it feels scary and adventurous to trust the impulses from the heart instead of the ones from the head. It takes courage to follow our heart. Which leads me to my favorite quote from the movie Braveheart:
Your heart is free. Have the courage to follow it.
But how do you do that to “follow your heart”?
In order to use the heart as internal guide one has to feel it. Again this may sound like an easy thing to do. But it is not. Because our hearts are not always so free as stated in the quote. They may be blocked by emotions like fear, sadness, grieve or bitterness.
It takes some healing (which often means feeling unpleasant things) to recover from old wounds and to shake up those suppressed emotions.
Are you willing to do the work? I can assure you, it is worth it.
Here is a simple practice to get in deep connection with your heart:
- Take five minutes of quietness (I know how busy life can be, sometimes the only five minutes we can get may be on the toilet).
- Put your left hand (or the right one if it feels better) on your heart.
- From your hand expand your awareness to the area on your breast where your hand rests peacefully. Now this may feel uncomfortable. It could be a tight feeling that you experience or it can even hurt. Or worst of it you feel nothing at all and judge yourself for being a cold fish.
- After some time you might feel a soft pulsation between your hand and your chest. You might start to shed some tears. Keep going it is the way to free your heart.
- Visualize your hand melting together with your heart. Feel the pulse, the tingling, the warmth. This is your hearts flow. Now your heart is open and can give you all the answers you need. Because every time you say or think something that is out of alignment with your heart, it will close and feel cold and tight again.
The best time for me to do this heart-melting-practice is before I fall to sleep. I noticed that my sleep improves when I am more lighthearted and peaceful. Please try this – it has the power to change your life!
We have so much power to create ourselves a beautiful life. But very often we forget. We feel draped, like victims, sad and confused or just overwhelmed with life itself. It is so easy to forget that we have the tools to form a future that gives us joy and fulfillment in every aspect. All it takes is a little shift of your focus – away from the difficulties towards the possibilities and dreams of your soul.
Dreams are treasures
Your dreams are like jewels and gold nuggets. Some lie very deep down under lots of covers and we have to dig for them. All those “shoulds” and “musts” bury your dreams. So they lie in darkness and silence and wait to be discovered by you.
Start to dig and to lift the hidden treasure by asking yourself questions like:
What brings me joy?
What did I love when I was six years old?
What are the things that light me up and make me smile?
Asked yourself again and again until you feel that the answer comes directly from deep deep inside.
Your wishes and dreams come directly from your soul, they feel sacred, joyful and easy. Lightness and feelings of excitement are a sign that your dreams are yours and not the dream of somebody else like parents, partners or societies.
Catch your wish
Close your eyes and invite a dream, a wish about the new year. What about a nice massage, a journey to Bali, those new yoga pants or why not a house? Catch your wish. Hold it, feel it, picture it, color it in your mind. And then put it on paper, or on your iPad. This is the first step of manifestation, writing on paper, typing on the keypad is something more than thinking. It brings your wish in some kind of form and is therefore a clear message to the universe.
What is your message to the universe?
How does 2015 looks for you?
Living peacefully and mindfully is so wonderful, but why is it not lasting?
It usually goes like this: We seek for happiness, are willing to change, take the first brave steps, keep doing our new practice for some days or even weeks. Things get better, our mind is more peaceful, we feel love and happiness.
And then, out of nowhere, it all stops. We forget our daily yoga practice, the daily green smoothie, the praying and whatever it is that helped us to surrender and to connect with our spirit and inner guide.
“I just somehow forgot…”
I have been there myself. There were many things I was soooo inspired about in the beginning. Like yoga, like shakti dance. I started writing morning pages (Julia Cameron…) and I had a green smoothie every morning. And I felt great! But in the everyday life I somehow forgot about it. Just like that.
“Ooppss… what was it that made me feel so good? Oh yeah, doing yoga. Okay, just checking my emails before hitting the yoga mat.”
I guess you know the end of the story. Of course I forgot yoga and stayed online for more than an hour.
Don’t underestimate the ego
The thing is, I didn’t realize that it takes a little more than to commit myself to true happiness one time. I have to commit myself to happiness every single day, actually every moment (not there yet). Because the ego (aka negative thought patterns) just likes to sneak in again, telling things like:
“Oh now that you feel so great you can take it easy, you don’t need to do this anymore.”
Well, it is not true. Just when we feel great is the best time to work even harder on being our best self.
Pray more, shine more and love more when you are already happy. This helps to avoid the fall down.
Rise up again… and again
And when you fall again? There is only one thing to get on top. You have to start again. It will be easier to pick up your healing practice, your yoga, your workout.
There is no other way. For so many years I was hoping, that with one big miracle all my problems will be solved and I will live happily ever after. I could have dreamed about this some more years but I chose to take on responsibility and to actually show up to my spiritual practise. Now I have a real chance to achieve the long-lasting happiness. That’s the way and it is such an awesome and adventurous path – so much better than the one big miracle.
Do you really take care of your BODY?
I am asking you this, because a while ago, I thought I do. I thought I take care of myself and nurture myself, because compared to other people I had a very healthy lifestyle (including food with lots of greens, no smoking, not too much alcohol, doing yoga, getting massage…).
But to be honest, my healthy lifestyle was more a decision of my mind, than an act of love from my heart. On a cellular level I might have given my body what it needed but on an energetic level my body craved after gentle and loving treatment.
What I secretly thought
I just didn’t learn to love my body and I never met many people that actually do. It took a while to realize that this is not a healthy attitude.
The reason for my still quit cold relationship to my body were those underlying thoughts:
I don’t really need to invest in my body. My mind is more important.
My body just has to work, that’s enough.
In order to function, I don’t need to love my body.
Check: Are you indifferent towards your body?
- How do you treat your skin after showering? Do you moisturize? And if so, how? Do you rub it in quick so you can move on to more important things?
- Do you drink enough water? Do you notice when you are thirsty?
- Do you rest your eyes after starring too long at the computer screen?
- Do you like to go to the doctor for regular checks?
- How about brushing your teeth? Or your hair? Is it a nice feeling or just an obligation?
Going from “I should” to “I want”
Loving your body means going from “I should” to “I want”. Instead of saying: “I should take a rest” you switch to: “I want to give my body the rest it needs” (and not only because you can work better afterwards but because you like and respect your body).
It is just like a relationship. Actually it’s the most important one in your life.
Everybody talks about self-love nowadays and that is where it starts!
Supporting tips for growing a nurturing attitude towards your body:
Even though I don’t want to take responsibility for my (teeth, skin…), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I hate my body, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I think don’t need my body, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I have better things to do than to nurture myself, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Bach Flower Essence for self-love of your body:
Oh, before I forget to mention: The best thing about clearing your body-relationship is this: When you treat yourself with love and listen to your needs, you never have to force yourself again to live a healthy lifestyle. It will follow automatically – with joy and love.
Wishing you a gentle and loving time with yourself!
